STROKES AND SKILLS
Once a child reaches the age of six or demonstrates self-rescue skills, they can begin learning swim strokes. An initial examination of their abilities will assess their comfort and skill level in the water. Following this assessment, the focus will shift to teaching the fundamentals of all swim strokes. This ensures that children build a strong foundation in swimming, promoting confidence and safety in the water.
Swim strokes and skills develop through a structured progression that enhances both technique and overall performance. Beginning with the foundational strokes, such as front crawl and breaststroke, swimmers focus on mastering body position, breathing, and basic arm and leg movements. As proficiency increases, attention shifts to refining stroke mechanics and improving efficiency, which lays the groundwork for speed. Swimmers then work on interval training and endurance drills to build stamina and maintain stroke integrity over longer distances. This gradual approach ensures that student not only perfect their technique but also enhance their ability to swim faster and longer.
